What is propfirms.now?
What is propfirms.now?
propfirms.now is an independent quantitative scoring engine for proprietary trading (prop) firms. We score 21+ firms across forex, futures, and crypto using a transparent 11-factor system covering payout reliability, rule clarity, drawdown structure, fees, support, and trader sentiment. Composite scores range 0–100 and are verified weekly against each firm’s official site.
Is propfirms.now a prop firm?
No. We are not a prop firm. We do not fund traders, accept deposits, or run evaluations. We aggregate, score, and compare. If you sign up for an evaluation, your money goes to the prop firm directly — never to us.
Who built this?
propfirms.now is operated by Matteo Scaglione. The methodology is publicly documented at /methodology/. Contact: admin@propfirmito.com.
How the scoring works
How is the composite score calculated?
Each firm is scored on 11 factors: (1) payout reliability, (2) rule clarity, (3) corporate transparency, (4) drawdown fairness, (5) account economics, (6) capital scaling, (7) platform quality, (8) support quality, (9) community sentiment, (10) trustpilot signal, (11) firm-level fundamentals. Each factor is 0–10. The composite is a weighted average. Full breakdown at /methodology/.
Do you take money to influence rankings?
No. Zero paid placements. We earn affiliate commissions when users sign up through our links, but the commission rate has no effect on the score. Every firm is graded against the same 11-factor system. If we lowered a firm’s score because they refused to pay us, that would be extortion; if we raised it because they did pay us, that would be fraud. Neither happens.
How often are scores updated?
Scores are re-verified weekly. The site checks each firm’s official pricing, drawdown rules, profit split, and payout cadence against what we have on file. If anything changed, the score recomputes automatically. The "last verified" timestamp is shown on every firm page.
Why aren’t firm X or firm Y listed?
We list firms that (a) operate openly with a public website and verifiable corporate identity, (b) have processed real payouts to retail traders, and (c) have been in business long enough for trader feedback to exist. New firms get evaluated once they meet these bars. To request coverage, email us with the firm’s site URL.
Prop trading basics
What is a prop firm?
A proprietary trading firm (prop firm) is a company that funds traders to trade the firm’s capital. Most consumer prop firms today operate an "evaluation" model: you pay a fee to take a simulated trading challenge; if you hit the profit target while respecting the drawdown rules, you receive a funded account and keep most of the profits (usually 80–95%). The firm covers losses.
What is a 1-Step vs 2-Step evaluation?
1-Step: hit one profit target (commonly 8–10%) while respecting drawdown, get funded. Faster but stricter. 2-Step: first phase profit target (8–10%), then a smaller second-phase target (4–5%) before funding. Slower but more forgiving. Some firms also offer Direct (no evaluation; smaller account, monthly subscription) and Instant (immediate funding for a much higher fee).
What is drawdown? EOD vs TDD?
Drawdown is the maximum loss you’re allowed before the account is closed. EOD (End-of-Day): measured at market close based on closed-trade equity. Forgiving — intraday drawdown doesn’t count. TDD (Trailing Daily Drawdown): measured continuously and trails your highest balance/equity. Stricter — can lock you out mid-trade. Static: a fixed dollar threshold that never moves. EOD is generally easier for the trader.
What is profit split?
The percentage of profits the trader keeps after the firm takes its share. Standard ranges 70–95%, with most modern firms offering 80–90% and some reaching 100% with scaling. Higher is better, but watch for caveats — some firms only pay the high split after the first payout or above certain thresholds.
What is "scaling"?
A program by which the firm increases your funded account size as you accumulate consistent profits. Common pattern: each consecutive monthly payout above a threshold (e.g. $10k) unlocks an additional capital tranche. Top firms scale up to $1M–$5M.
Discounts, affiliate, payouts
Are the discount codes real?
Yes. Every code listed is one we’ve verified through the firm’s own checkout. We re-test codes weekly. If a code stops working or the discount % changes, it’s usually because the firm updated its promotional schedule — please tell us if you spot a stale one.
What happens if I click an affiliate link?
You land on the firm’s normal pricing page with our referral attached. You pay the same price (or lower if a discount code is also applied). If you sign up, we earn a referral commission from the firm at no extra cost to you. We disclose this on every page. It does not influence our scores.
How fast are payouts in practice?
Varies widely. The fastest firms process within hours (Day-1 payouts at TradeDay, on-demand at Instant Funding); typical is 14 days; slowest can be 30+ days. The "Avg payout hours" field on each firm page reflects independently verified payout times from the last 90 days.
A firm refused to pay me. What can I do?
First, file a formal dispute through the firm’s ticketing system — most disputes resolve once escalated. If that fails: post a screenshot-supported report on Reddit r/propfirm or the relevant Trustpilot page and email us a link. Verified refusal-to-pay incidents directly affect our "payout refusal reports" factor, which can drop a firm’s composite score by 8–15 points.
Using the site
How do I find the right firm for me?
Use /find-my-firm/ — it’s an 8-question quiz that filters by experience, target capital, asset class, drawdown style, and platform preference, then returns the best-fit firm(s) with their scores.
Can I compare two specific firms or accounts?
Yes. Use /compare/ for firm-to-firm comparison or /compare/accounts/ for account-to-account. Both render side-by-side spec sheets with the better cell highlighted on each row.
Is there an API?
Yes, public and no-auth. /wp-json/pfn/v1/firms lists all firms with their composite score and metadata. /wp-json/pfn/v1/firms/{slug} returns a single firm plus its accounts. Filter by ?asset=forex|futures|crypto or ?min_score=N. License: CC BY 4.0 with attribution to propfirms.now.
Can I reuse your scores in my own article / video?
Yes, under CC BY 4.0. Cite "propfirms.now" and link back to the source page. Our methodology and scores are explicitly licensed for reuse. Firm logos remain the property of their respective owners. Full terms at /terms/.
