Topstep LLC is the longest-running US futures prop firm, founded in Chicago in 2012 by Michael Patak (Patak Trading Partners, 2010; rebranded Topstep in 2020). One evaluation, the Trading Combine, sold as a monthly subscription in $50K, $100K and $150K sizes with two billing paths: Standard ($49 / $99 / $199 a month plus a $149 activation fee per Express Funded Account) and No Activation Fee ($95 / $149 / $229 a month, $10-$30 off with a Daily Loss Limit added at checkout). 6% profit target, Maximum Loss Limit trailing on the end-of-day high ($2,000 / $3,000 / $4,500), 55% consistency target, no time limit. Passing unlocks an Express Funded Account (90/10 split, payouts after 5 winning days of $150+ or 3 days at 40% consistency, caps $2,000-$6,000 per request, doubled with a DLL) and consistent traders are called up to a Live Funded Account on firm capital (no payout caps).
